Frequently Asked Questions
General
What is data roaming?
Data roaming happens when your mobile phone connects to the internet while you’re outside your operator’s standard coverage area — usually when traveling internationally. In this case, your phone uses a partner network, which can result in significantly higher charges for data usage. Many users are unaware that roaming data isn’t included in their usual plan, leading to unexpectedly high bills.
Why do I get an error saying "This code is invalid" when trying to activate my eSIM?
This message often appears if the QR code wasn’t scanned properly — usually due to a weak Wi-Fi signal or if a VPN is active. To resolve this, turn off your VPN and try scanning the code again. If the issue persists, you can enter the activation code manually.
To confirm that the eSIM has been installed:
On Android: Go to Settings > System > About phone > SIM status, then look for the ICCID.
On iPhone: Open Settings > General > About and locate the ICCID section.
If installed correctly, the new ICCID will be shown.
Note: Each eSIM QR code is unique and valid for a single installation only. If you get this error on your first attempt, contact our support team at hi@visims.com for help.
What types of eSIM plans are available?
Visims provides three categories of eSIM plans to suit different travel needs:
Country Plans – These are tailored for use in a single country, ideal for short-term or one-country travel.
Regional Plans – Cover several countries within a specific area, offering wider coverage for multi-destination trips.
Lifetime Plans – These plans have no expiry date, making them a good choice for long-term or frequent travelers.
Each option comes with varying data limits to match your destination and usage.

eSIM Activation & Setup
What is the process for activating an eSIM?
To activate your eSIM, scan the QR code provided with your plan or follow the activation steps outlined by your service provider. Once the code is scanned, most supported devices will guide you through the remaining setup process automatically.
Which devices support eSIM technology?
eSIM functionality is available on a broad selection of modern smartphones, tablets, and smartwatches. To confirm whether your device is compatible, please refer to the manufacturer’s specifications. Commonly supported models include Apple devices (starting from iPhone XS) and Google Pixel phones.
Is a physical SIM card required to use an eSIM?
No, a physical SIM is not necessary to use an eSIM. You may use an eSIM on its own or in combination with a physical SIM. For example, it is possible to use the physical SIM for voice services and the eSIM for data, or to rely entirely on the eSIM if preferred.
What steps should I take if I encounter problems during eSIM activation?
Should you experience difficulties while activating your eSIM, first ensure that your device’s operating system is fully updated. If the issue continues, try restarting your device or scanning the QR code again. For further assistance, please contact our customer support team.
